SURS members must choose one of three retirement options:
Information about receiving a death benefit.
Information about receiving a disability benefit.
Information regarding premiums, providers, and changes to the College Insurance and State Employee plans.
Information for new SURS members.

From 1941 (when the Universities Retirement System was created by law) to 1953, the University of Illinois had its own advisory committee to advise the president on retirement system matters. The president then referred specific recommendations to the Board of Trustees of the Retirement System.
If you are at least four years away from retirement, you can schedule a counseling appointment by calling 1-800-ASK-SURS or 378-8800 in the Champaign-Urbana area. When you call to schedule, SURS will send you a Retirement Estimate Request form. You are not required to retire on the date you list on this form. Your counselor needs this information to provide you with a projected monthly retirement annuity amount at your appointment.
